Heritage Day 2025

Child of God by Draylin Young, Bryan Pound

(Come on, clap your hands right here, let′s go)
VERSE
I was lost, I was bound, couldn't find a solid ground
I was blind, couldn′t see how you called me royalty
But in just three days, You came and rescued me, oh-oh-oh
By the power of Your blood, I am loved, and I am free
PRE-CHORUS
(And) Whom the Son sets free is truly free, free indeed
CHORUS
You have changed my name
I am not the same
Jesus, I proclaim (I am saved), I am a child of God
You have changed my heart
Took me from the dark
Gave me a new start, I am a child of God

Oh-oh-oh (say), I am a child of God

I was lost ...

Whom the Son sets free ...

You have changed my name ...

I am no longer a stranger, I am no longer a slave
I am no longer an orphan, but I am a child of the King
I am no longer a stranger, I am no longer a slave
I am a son and a daughter, I am a child of the King

You have changed my name ...

Mama Michelle Teaching Compassion Philippians 3:10

Philippians 3:10 ESV [10] "that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,"

Key Points:

1. Know Him: Know Christ personally and intimately, not just about Him.
2. The Power of Resurrection: The power of eternity.
3. Fellowship and Suffering: Knowing the hardships you'll face as a Christian, but you'll feel everything He feels, and you won't be alone.

Allowing God to Break Your Heart

As you walk with God, He'll break your heart for things that break His. It'll be hard, but you won't be alone. The Lord's heart is big, and knowing His suffering helps you understand what He went through and what others are going through.

Being a Christian is a Daily Choice

It's a choice to follow God daily, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. A book that helped someone understand this is "Dangerous to Surrender." The writer went through depression when she felt like she was saving the world by herself.

Jesus Suffered with Us and for Us

We're privileged to suffer for Him, and it's okay to have a mindset that wants to fix problems. However, we can't do it without God's strength. To grow tender, you must know Jesus and His power through you.

Michelle's Encouragement

Michelle encourages the team to invite intimacy with Jesus. In Matthew 4:13, Jesus made time to be with the Father, even when He was busy serving people. Galatians 6:2 NLT says, "Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ."

How to Be His Ears, Arms, and Hands

1. Listen and be sensitive: Be present and engaged when people talk.
2. Work in the moment: Share Jesus and remember we have a great and healing God.
3. Lead them to Jesus: Bring hope, which is Jesus.

Being His Ears

- Listen and never avoid, but engage.
- There's power in just being present, showing support and love.

Being His Arms

- Offer hugs and hold hands.
- Help serve with your arms, do chores, and be a doer.
- Encourage people to cry, sit, and take a nap -that's the Father wanting to help.

Prayer

Let's pray and take it to God. If serving others feels like a task or job, go to God, ask for forgiveness, and remember the Father wants us to carry His heart.

My other son from another mother is teaming up and going out into the community, to reach out to those who might or might not realise just how much they need the love, mercy and grace of our Loving Heavenly Father. This is one of his reports, shared here with his permission. This is what they do, day after day after day.
[Unedited- straight from the horse's mouth]

We met the sangoma on the 23rd, we also talked to D__ and K__, and two ladies across the street from K__. We also talked to two ladies, each had a baby. On the 24th we talked to several ladies on the side of the road, then H__ was surrounded by all the children, and then we went in search of the sangoma. Along the way we spoke with the group of women and children.

"On July 23, 2024, I met a man named K__ on the street as we were heading up his street. He was curious about what my team was doing in his neighborhood. I told him that we are here to share love and learn about different cultures. A woman was washing clothes beside him, but she wasn't really paying attention to us.

After K__ agreed to chat, I asked if we could talk and share knowledge. As we spoke, I noticed two women doing laundry across the road and decided to approach them. I greeted them and asked if they were sisters or friends. They laughed, and I shared our team's purpose with them. They were happy to have us, and I invited two women from my team to join me.

From our conversation, I learned that the women are sisters, both with kids, and are welcoming. However, the younger sister is looking for a job. We told her about platforms like LinkedIn and encouraged her to create a profile. We also asked about her qualifications and work experience. Although she has experience, she didn't complete high school. We encouraged her to finish her education, emphasizing the importance of growth and being able to help her kids.

Both sisters love Christ, and we used the opportunity to encourage and guide each other. We shared the idea that faith without action is not enough and encouraged her to be specific about the job she wants and apply. As I left the sisters and returned to K__, I found that the team was highlighting Bible verses with him. They discovered that his reading ability is low, but they taught him the basics and encouraged him to continue reading with a friend.

As we left, we came across two women with kids, and I greeted them, asking if they were friends. Before they answered, I jokingly said, "Oh, you guys are friends," noticing that both had babies of the same age on their backs. They laughed and shared that they met while pregnant and have been friends ever since. Both women were from Venda, a village in Limpopo.

We also spoke with another woman who believes in Jesus but comes from a family that believes in ancestors. We shared a verse about being cautious in certain environments and encouraged her to seek God's guidance. Throughout our interactions, we referenced the Bible and used it as a guide.

As we had to leave, we met a traditional healer on the street who was friendly and promised to visit her house, but we couldn't due to our schedule. Despite the challenges, I loved the warmth and welcome of the African community. I hope that our team took home valuable lessons from South Africa and will share them with their friends and family.

Let us unite in prayer and praise, glorifying His Name and bringing His Kingdom on Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Nevermind our differences of opinion. We all worship our Loving Heavenly Father.
It does not matter whether we sit, stand or kneel when we pray.
It only matters that we PRAY with THANKSGIVING.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your
name.
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

About the Main Contributors [updated Oct 2025]

Trevor Brandon founded and ran El Petra Ministries, on the West Coast, where people from all sorts of backgrounds could be discipled. It was where God's word, wisdom, self discipline and character development were in plentiful supply.

After many years of faithfully ministering to the lost and hurting that came through the doors, alongside his late wife, Carina, Trevor felt the need to move, as per God's leading. After Carina's passing, he and Danita married and moved to KZN, where they continue to reach out to Dumps and such places. People worship at the Dumps, lead by Danita on guitar and followed by sound teaching from Trevor.

Upon moving to KZN, Trevor and Danita started a Whatsapp group to share the gospel with any and all who are interested in hearing it.
For the past 10 years, they have been faithfully sending messages.

One of the group members wanted to keep an archive of the messages, as those messages can disappear after a while, or a phone could be replaced where older messages are difficult to find. This person became known as The Editor.

Beginning with a free site, with the Editor figuring out site design and layout shenanigans, Abba Father Family online presence was born.

When the free site reached its space limit, the Editor negotitated a hosted site, paying all the necessary registration, hosting and renewal fees for a number of years. Recently, as a pensioner, personal funds have been limited and other members of the group have stepped up to fund the necessary renewal and hosting.

Trevor's messages continue to go out on a daily basis, with Danita doing the Sunday Blessings. Since November 2023, the Editor has also been doing the Saturday messages at Trevor's request.

From the Editor [updated Oct 2025]

I am a semi-retired pensioner and enjoy paddling a K1 kayak.

Earlier this year, my other son from another mother encouraged me to make my audio messages into videos and post them on YouTube. After all, if even one more person gets to hear the Word, then that is a good thing. Right. After all, God's Word does not return void.

Starting in April 2025, I have been making videos, which have also been shared on Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp.

Here is a list of videos
